Maharashtra Orthopaedic Association ( MOA) organises various awareness acitvities to mark MOA Day Week Celebrations

Pune : The Maharashtra Orthopaedic Association (MOA) has commenced the celebration of MOA Day Week 2026 from 1st May to 7th May 2026 with the aim of creating awareness regarding bone, joint, and spine health among the general public across Maharashtra. The theme is Save Your Knees, Save Your Back,  Save Your Bones. The MOA day is celebrated every year on 1st May.
The inaugural ceremony of the MOA Day Celebration Week was held today at Sancheti Hospital, Pune in the presence of distinguished orthopaedic surgeons and office bearers of MOA and Pune Orthopaedic Society (POS).Dr. Parag Sancheti – Chairman, Sancheti Hospital, Dr. N. J. Karne – President, Maharashtra Orthopaedic Association, Dr. Prashant Tonape – Secretary, MOA & President, Pune Orthopaedic Society,  Dr. Sachin Abane – Chief Coordinator, MOA Day, Dr. Mukesh Dharma,  Treasurer, Pune Orthopaedic Society, Dr. Manish Kulkarni – Secretary Elect, Pune Orthopaedic Society,  Dr. Atul Patil – Senior Orthopaedic Surgeon, Sancheti Hospital and Dr. Shailesh Hadgaonkar – Senior Spine Surgeon, Sancheti Hospital among other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. N. J. Karne, President of MOA, highlighted the significance of the Foundation Day of the Maharashtra Orthopaedic Association. He mentioned that since 2018, under the presidential tenure of Dr. Parag Sancheti, MOA has been celebrating 1st May as MOA Day. Every year, from 1st May to 7th May, the Association conducts various public awareness programs and community initiatives across Maharashtra focusing on bone, joint, and spine health.
These activities are aimed at educating the common public regarding preventive orthopaedic care, early diagnosis, healthy lifestyle practices, osteoporosis awareness, spine care, knee preservation, and maintaining overall musculoskeletal health in day-to-day life.
During the MOA Day Celebration Week, several activities including awareness lectures, free orthopaedic consultation camps, bone mineral density (BMD) camps, public interaction programs, and educational initiatives will be organized at various centres throughout Maharashtra. A free orthopaedic camp was organised at Sancheti Hospital where more than 500 patients did free checkup.
