Tiwari garlanded statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar at a function organised by the Advocates Wing of Maharashtra State unit of Congress Party to pay homage to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on the occasion of his birth anniversary. Adv Faiyyaz Shaikh welcomed and delivered the introductory address. Adv Shahid Akhtar also spoke. Adv Vijay Tikone proposed a vote of thanks. Adv Shrikant Patil, Adv Rajendra Kalebere, Adv Atul Gund Patil, Adv Suresh Deokar, Adv Vidya Pelapkar, Adv D’Souza, Suresh Nangare, Adv Balasaheb Bamne, Adv Vaibhav Kambale, Raju Sathe, Rajesh Sutar etc attended the function.
In his speech, Tiwari said, “Though its expanse was as large as a continent, India was divided into tiny kingdoms. Legendary leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru, Patel, Azad, Bose etc worked hard to attain independence for the nation enslaved by the British using non-violence and diplomacy as the means.
It is a fact that the country attained its freedom from the foreign rule due to the supreme sacrifice by thousands of freedom fighters including Bhagat Singh and Rajguru and incessant struggle by lakhs of Indians. However, it was the Constitution drafted by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar which gave India its identity as a sovereign, republic, federal nation.”
Thus, India making progress on the basis of the constitution while retaining its democratic values will be the real tribute to Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar,” he stressed.
