WaterWorld India Leads Pune’s World Drowning Prevention Day 2026 Campaign, Promoting Water Safety Through Awareness and Education

Pune : In support of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) global observance of World Drowning Prevention Day on 25 July, WaterWorld India successfully conducted a comprehensive three-day Drowning Prevention Awareness Campaign from 24 July to 26 July 2026 across its training centres in Pune. The initiative united children, parents, swimmers, educators and community members under one mission—to create a safer society through water safety education and drowning prevention awareness.

The campaign was organised at three key WaterWorld India locations:

  • WaterWorld Aquatic Club – Kharadi
  • WaterWorld Swim School – Vadgaonsheri
  • WaterWorld Training Center – Ghorpadi

With more than 150 participants taking part throughout the campaign, the programme focused on educating the community about the importance of drowning prevention, water survival skills, responsible behaviour around water, and the life-saving value of learning to swim.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Vijay Kumar Sah, Chief Executive Officer of WaterWorld India, emphasised that drowning is one of the leading yet preventable causes of accidental death. He highlighted that awareness, timely action, swimming education and basic water survival knowledge can significantly reduce the risk of drowning.

Speaking during the campaign, Mr. Sah said:

“Drowning is silent, sudden and often preventable. Every individual, irrespective of age, should possess basic swimming and water survival skills. Awareness is our strongest defence, and education is the first step towards saving lives. Through this initiative, WaterWorld India is committed to empowering every family with the knowledge and confidence needed to stay safe in and around water.”

Throughout the three-day programme, participants experienced practical demonstrations and educational sessions covering essential topics such as recognising water hazards, safe behaviour in and around swimming pools and open water, emergency response during drowning incidents, floating and survival techniques, and the importance of early swimming education for children. The campaign also encouraged parents to prioritise water safety and support structured swimming education from an early age.

The initiative reflected WaterWorld India’s ongoing commitment to building a culture of water safety across Maharashtra through professional swimming instruction, lifesaving education, CPR awareness, and community outreach programmes. By aligning with the World Health Organization’s global campaign, the organisation reaffirmed its dedication to reducing preventable drowning incidents and creating safer communities.

The overwhelming participation and positive response from families, students and community members demonstrated the growing importance of water safety awareness and reinforced the collective responsibility of organisations and citizens in preventing drowning-related tragedies.

As WaterWorld India continues its mission of promoting swimming as an essential life skill, the organisation remains committed to expanding awareness programmes, strengthening community partnerships and inspiring more individuals to become confident, responsible and water-safe.
