Postgraduate Diploma in ‘Landscape with Nature’ to be Introduced at BNCA

Program to Begin from the Upcoming Academic Year; – Principal Dr. Anurag Kashyap

Pune : The Department of Landscape  Architecture at MKSSS’s  Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Architecture for Women (BNCA),  has announced the launch of a new Postgraduate Diploma program titled ‘Landscape with Nature.’ Open to graduates from all academic backgrounds, the course will commence from the upcoming academic year.

The announcement was made by  Dr. Anurag Kashyap  Principal BNCA    during a special event organised to mark World Landscape Architecture Month. The event was attended by noted landscape architect Vikas Bhosekar, along with Neelima Bhosekar, Ameya Bhosekar, Mohini Bhosekar, Dr. Swati SahasrabudheHead, Department of Landscape Architecture at BNCA , Prof. Mukta Gokhale Kulkarni, Prof. Kshitija Kolhatkar, Prof. Snehal Mizar, and Prof. Amruta Barve. During the program Vikas Bhosekar presented a selection of his landmark projects, followed by an engaging interaction led by Dr. Swati Sahasrabudhe.

Announcing the program, Dr. Kashyap highlighted that the course—conceptualized by Dr. Swati Sahasrabudhe—addresses a growing need in the field. In line with the National Education Policy, the program is open to graduates from Arts, Commerce, and Science streams and is expected to emerge as a significant addition to landscape architecture education. The course will be offered in a hybrid format, enabling participation from candidates across India and overseas, with guidance from experienced professionals in the field.

Dr. Swati Sahasrabudhe noted that the modular structure offers flexibility with multiple entry and exit options, and academic credits will be awarded based on prior qualifications. The program aims to create a supportive and adaptable learning environment for participants.

In her introductory remarks, Prof. Mukta Gokhale Kulkarni emphasized that the course is the outcome of extensive brainstorming and addresses a genuine gap in the field. She underscored that landscape architecture is not just an academic subject but an integral part of everyday life, and the course seeks to bring this experiential understanding to a wider audience.

The curriculum will focus strongly on environment and sustainability, incorporating hands-on workshops, field visits, and nature-based learning modules. Participants will be equipped with essential documentation skills and provided with relevant study material and visual resources, enhancing their employability in sectors such as environmental consultancy and allied industries.

Welcoming the initiative, Vikas Bhosekar expressed his support and willingness to mentor students in the program. He described landscape architecture as a discipline that nurtures a deep connection with nature and instills humility through continuous learning. He also noted the growing momentum in the field at the national level, citing developments in sectors such as railways, airports, and river restoration.

He further remarked that landscape architecture holds the potential to harmonize development with nature, and expressed confidence that BNCA’s new postgraduate diploma program will play a meaningful role in advancing this objective.
