Health Awareness Is Key in the Age of Technology, Says Amruta Fadnavis

Sakal Publications launches Turn Your Back on Back Pain in Marathi and English

Pune : Emphasising the importance of preventive healthcare in today’s technology-driven world, Amruta Fadnavis, Founder of Divija Foundation, said that growing dependence on digital devices, prolonged desk work, poor posture, and sedentary lifestyles have contributed significantly to the increasing incidence of back and neck pain.

She was speaking at the launch of the Marathi and English editions of Turn Your Back on Back Pain, authored by renowned spine specialists Dr. Ajay Kothari and Dr. Abhinav Bhute, and published by Sakal Publications.

The event was attended by Dr. Parag Sancheti, Chairman and Managing Director of Sancheti Hospital; entrepreneur Saurabh Bora; Mrunal Pawar, Director, Sakal Media Group; the authors; and Ramesh Kothari, along with leading members of the medical fraternity and distinguished guests.

Addressing the gathering, Amruta Fadnavis said that prevention is always more effective than treatment, but prevention begins with awareness. “Understanding our bodies and making informed lifestyle choices are essential for leading healthy and active lives. This book will play an important role in educating people about spinal health and encouraging preventive care,” she said.

Speaking on the occasion, Mrunal Pawar said that while people today remain constantly connected to technology, they are increasingly becoming disconnected from their own well-being. “A conversation on spinal health is not merely about treating pain—it is about maintaining balance in life, cultivating awareness, and improving the overall quality of life. Through this book, the knowledge and decades of clinical experience of two eminent doctors have been made accessible to readers in an easy-to-understand format,” she said.

Highlighting an emerging public health concern, Dr. Ajay Kothari noted that neck and back pain are no longer confined to older adults. “An increasing number of young people are seeking treatment due to excessive screen time, reduced outdoor activity, lack of exercise, poor posture, and unhealthy lifestyle habits. We have written this book to help people understand these issues and adopt simple preventive measures before problems become serious,” he said.

Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Parag Sancheti stressed that modern lifestyles have significantly reduced physical activity. He urged people not to ignore early symptoms and to undergo regular health check-ups for timely diagnosis and treatment.

He outlined five essential principles for maintaining a healthy body: discipline, regular exercise, maintaining an ideal body weight, adequate rest, and peace of mind.

The programme was compered by Bhushan Karandikar, while Dr. Simple Kothari proposed the vote of thanks.
