Abby Lighting Opens First COCO Store outside Mumbai , Investing in a City That Now Demands the World’s Best in Design

Pune : Abby Lighting, one of India’s foremost architectural lighting manufacturers, has announced the opening of its first experience centre in Pune-a fully interactive, specification-grade space in Shivajinagar. This is the brand’s second company owned and operated experience centre nationally, following its flagship in Mumbai, and is the first dedicated architectural lighting experience centre of its kind in the city. The company already has a presence in Chennai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, and several other cities through its partner network.

The company’s expansion comes on the back of consistent growth, with Abby Lighting reporting over 20 percent year-on-year growth, a 30 percent compound annual growth rate over the past five years, and overall growth exceeding 25 percent in recent years.

Pune’s commercial real estate market is witnessing unprecedented momentum. According to recent reports by JLL and Knight Frank India, the city recorded its strongest year for office leasing in 2025, crossing the 10 million square feet mark for the first time and registering significant year-on-year growth driven by GCC expansion, technology firms, and flexible workspace operators. On the residential side, premium housing demand continues to accelerate, with Pune emerging as one of India’s most active markets for high-value home sales. A new generation of globally exposed professionals is bringing international expectations into the spaces they live, work, and socialise in, making lighting an increasingly critical element of contemporary design.

Abby Lighting has been delivering projects in Pune for over two decades. The brand’s portfolio in the city encompasses some of its most significant commercial addresses like Deutsche Bank, CRISIL, Roche, British Petroleum, UBS, Infosys, Lupin, and Poonawalla Fincorp in Koregaon Park alongside hospitality commissions including Novotel Pune, Dukes Retreat in Khandala, Effingut, and Asilo, and the institutional

landmark of the Firodia Institute of Philosophy, Culture, and History. AP4 Tech Park, a 4 million square feet development across 17 acres is among the large-scale projects currently underway.

The Pune experience centre, created in partnership with Pune-based Sparc Design, features over 100 live luminaires on display, all integrated and controlled via state-of-the-art wireless Bluetooth mesh technology, making it a first-of-its-kind installation. Organic, arch-cut partition walls with integrated live fittings make the architecture and the product inseparable. Architects and designers can compare beam angles, evaluate circadian-rhythm systems against conventional alternatives, and assess colour temperatures against their own material palettes in real time. The experience centre will also host architect forums, CPD sessions, and collaborative working sessions with design practices across Pune, Kolhapur, Solapur, Sangli, and the Lonavala–Pawana corridor.

Sharing her thoughts, Suhani Lal Sanghra , Principal Architect , Sparc Design said, “The core idea was to translate the drama, movement, and rhythm of light into a spatial experience- where partitions flow like a choreographed dance, seamlessly guiding movement through the experience centre. The partitions create a continuous, fluid expression, while the red columns act as intentional pauses, grounding the space as the forms wrap around them and carry the narrative forward.”

Talking about the development, Rachna Bajaj Joshi, Director, Abby Lighting said, “Pune has been part of our story for a long time, longer than most people realise. We have lit some of this city’s most significant offices, its hotels, and its institutions. We have worked with architects and designers here who push the standard of every project they take on. For years, the conversation we have wanted to have with Pune, a real conversation in a space where we can show rather than tell, has had to happen over a desk or a screen. That changes today. We have invested in this experience centre because Pune has earned it. This city is now one of the most design-literate markets in India, and its people deserve a lighting experience that matches the level at which they live and work. What we have built in Shivajinagar is a working environment for the architect who wants to specify with absolute confidence, and for the client who wants to understand what light can genuinely do to a space. For us, this is the beginning of a much larger journey.”

Every product specified through Abby Lighting is manufactured in-house at the company’s Palghar facility. Custom wattages, finishes, and dimensions are

accommodated as factory instructions. Addressing three of the most pressing challenges in project execution, namely consistency, quality, and availability, Abby Lighting ensures long-term supply reliability through direct ownership of tools, dies, and manufacturing processes.

Over the years, Abby Lighting has collaborated with several leading architects and design practices across Pune, including Chandrashekhar Kanetkar of Chandrashekar Architects Pvt Ltd, Pritika Manjrekar of Moco Design Studio, Rushikesh Hadnoorkar of Architect Rushikesh H. (ARH), and Chetan Lahoti of Mind Manifestation Design LLP
