IFSC Asian Climbing Championship to Be Held in Pimpri Chinchwad; 200 Young Athletes from 13 Nations to Compete

Pune: A historic milestone in India’s sporting journey will unfold this November in Pimpri Chinchwad. For the first time ever, Maharashtra will host the IFSC Asian Climbing Championship 2025, a grand international sporting event scheduled from November 1 to 4, 2025, at the state-of-the-art Sport Climbing Complex, Yoga Park, Pimple Saudagar.

The championship is being organized jointly by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF), Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), and the Maharashtra Sport Climbing Association (MSCA). Over 200 young athletes from 13 countries will compete across four thrilling days in three disciplines — Speed Climbing, Lead Climbing, and Bouldering — under the U13 and U15 categories for boys and girls.

Each ascent on the wall will test not just speed and strength, but also focus, balance, and mental resilience. The competition will be judged by international-level judges and route setters appointed by the IMF and IFSC, ensuring that all events meet world-class standards.

The championship venue — the Sport Climbing Complex at Yoga Park — is a visionary creation by Maharashtra’s leading climbing experts Surendra Shelke, Shrikrishna Kaduskar, and Sagar Palkar. Developed with the support of the Pimpri Chinchwad Smart City Mission, the complex is recognized as one of the most advanced climbing facilities in the country.

Through this initiative, MSCA aims to nurture Olympic-level climbing talent from India, marking a decisive step toward the nation’s “Mission Olympic 2036”. For over two decades, the trio has played a vital role in building a climbing culture in Maharashtra — from the facilities at Annasaheb Magar Stadium (Chinchwad) and Raje Shivaji Climbing Wall (Shivajinagar) to this world-class center.

The recently concluded 29th IMF West Zone Sport Climbing Championship (October 2025) showcased the center’s quality and the MSCA team’s meticulous preparation. Building on that success, the upcoming Asian Championship is expected to be even grander and more spectacular.

This exciting event will be live-streamed on the official YouTube channels of MSCA, and with continuous updates shared via the online social media platforms of MSCA, IMF, IFSC Asia and PCMC.

Organizers are confident that this championship will help India secure a distinct position on the global sport climbing map, inspiring a new generation of climbers to reach greater heights.
