“Golden Evening” Gala for Childhood Cancer Awareness

Aga Khan Palace in glowing gold light — an initiative by Access Life

Pune,
The month of September is observed worldwide as International Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. In honor of this, Access Life Assistant Foundation organized the “Golden Evening” gala in Pune for the third consecutive year, with great enthusiasm. To mark the occasion, the historic Aga Khan Palace was lit in golden hues, illuminating the surroundings and spreading a message of hope and solidarity across the city.

The colourful ceremony was graced by Arjuna Awardee Captain Gopal Devang and boxing champion Prakash Kakade, who delivered the powerful message to the young warriors:

“Dhishum to Cancer!”

Their presence infused the event with courage, positivity, and fighting spirit.

Also on stage were Kalyani Salelkar and her troupe, who delivered an enchanting dance performance. Students from Bishop’s School attended and enthusiastically supported the initiative, adding youthful energy to the evening.

One of the most touching moments of the event was the interaction with the child warriors and their families — their smiles, strength, and resolve were deeply inspiring for all.

The event was led by Access Life’s founders Girish Nair and Ankit Dave, along with Dr. Chandan Dharmraj, who is the Pune center manager. Their leadership and support helped make the initiative stronger and more impactful.

As the Pune center of Access Life expanded, the support of volunteers and Pune’s citizens enhanced the reach and effectiveness of this program. Access Life’s core mission is to provide children battling cancer with a safe, clean, and caring residence — “far from home, yet like home.”
