‘Comparing public iftar party with private Ganesh pooja is intellectual bankruptsy,’ Gopaldada Tiwari
Pune :- State Unit Spokesperson of Congress Party Gopaldada Tiwari has stated that the natural reaction on Social Media to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi attending Ganesh pooja at the residence of the Chief Justice of India Dhananjay Chandrachud shows that the democracy is still alive and kicking in India.
Tiwari, however, pointed out that no clarification has been given as to whether the Prime Minister’s visit to the Chief Justice’s residence to have darshan and offer pooja to the Ganesh took place at the instance of invitation of Justice Chandrachud or the Prime Minister visited the Chief Justice’s residence on his own on the occasion of the Ganesh festival.
The Congress spokesperson went on to state that while natural reactions to the persons holding highest constitutional posts of the country using the occasion for such ‘personal visit’ were being expressed on the social media and while the political parties had not taken to social media to give their reactions, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Devendra Fadnavis rushed to give a politically motivated reaction to it. He took a pot-shot at Fadanavis saying comparison between a public event of Ifter party and a family’s event of Ganesh Pooja is purely intellectual bankruptcy.
In a press communiqué issued by Congress party, he stated that the comparison between Ganesh pooja and Ifter party is totally illogically and irrelevant. Moreover, the release said, Fadanavis is making unsuccessful attempt to engineer split between Hindu and Muslim.
On the Iftar party hosted by former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Tiwari said, senior leaders and high level functionaries of various parties including the then Leader of Opposition, Lal Krishna Advani of Bharatiya Janata Party, had attended the Iftar party held at the official residence of the then Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to breakfast observed in the month of Ramzan. Fadanavis, who is a Modi Bhakta, has also conveniently forgotten that the event of Iftar party was held in public domain organised in a harmonious and open atmosphere.
Accusing Fadanavis of trying to engineer social and religious polarisation, the release issued by Congress has alleged that he has violated the constitutional oath of remaining unbiased while taking over the office of the Home Minister and demanded that the Hon’ble Governor takes suo-moto cognisance of his utterances.
Further, while pointing out that Shri Ganesh is believed to be the Lord of intellect, Tiwari questioned why the Bharatiya Janata Party avoided to include a Ganesh Bhakta like Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud in the process for selection of the Election Commission of India as per the directives given by the court. “Did Modi not believe at that time that Chief Justice Chandrachud would take a reasonable stand,” he quizzed.
