COURSE COMPLETION CEREMONY OF MARINE ENGINEERING SPECIALISATION COURSE AT INS SHIVAJI
32 officers of the Indian Navy along with six from the Sri Lanka Navy, one each from Bangladesh, Kenya and Myanmar have successfully completed 105 weeks of Marine Engineering Specialisation Course (MESC) at INS Shivaji on 29 Dec 23. Rear Admiral K Srinivas, Assistant Chief of Materiel (Dockyard and Refit) was Chief Guest for the Passing Out Parade.
As part of course curriculum, the officers underwent rigorous watch keeping onboard various warships and have undertaken challenging marine engineering projects. The officers inculcated an aptitude for technical assignments and research through a wide array of projects, ranging from development of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for AC & Refrigeration plant and development of Unmanned Surface Vessel using satellite navigation.
During the ceremonial parade, awards were presented to officers excelling in various fields by the Chief Guest. Lt Karan Pramod Bhoite was awarded the ‘Best All-Round Officer’ trophy while Lt Vishal Upadhyay was awarded ‘First in Order of Academic Merit’. ‘Best Sportsman’ trophy was awarded to Lt Abhishek Pitale and Positive Living Officer’ to Lt Karamveer Singh. ‘Best International Officer Trainee’ was awarded to Lt Cdr Mostafa Tanveer of the Bangladesh Navy.
