During the closing ceremony, Surendra Shelke, President of the Maharashtra Sport Climbing Association, said:
“The climbing complex established in Pimpri Chinchwad is one of the most advanced training center in the country. We will produce international-level athletes from Maharashtra. Winning seven medals in this championship, including one by Pune’s very own Dhruvi, is a moment of great pride for us.”
Shrikrishna Kaduskar, Chief of the IFSC Asian Judges Commission , said:
“It is a matter of great satisfaction that we successfully organized the Asian Championship. This event will prove to be a significant milestone towards Mission Olympic 2036. Over the past two decades, we have nurtured a climbing culture in Maharashtra. From the success at Annasaheb Magar Stadium in 2000 (Chinchwad) and Raje Shivaji Climbing Wall (Shivajinagar) in 2010, the journey to this world-class sport climbing complex at Yoga Park Pimple Saudagar has been challenging. The fact that foreign players and coaches expressed confidence that this new facility at Pimple Saudagar is state of the art, and suitable for hosting world cup competitions is a matter of great pride and will provide impetus for Maharashtra’s sport climbing culture towards our Mission Olympics.”
