HIKE TO INDIRA POINT: SOUTHERN MOST CORNER OF INDIA AND KIBITHU

National Defence Academy will be completing 75 years of service to the nation on 16 Jan 24. To commemorate 75 Glorious Years of National Defence Academy, hikes to four Corners of India are being undertaken by cadets & staff of NDA. Two hikes to the Western most and Northern most corners were undertaken in Jun 23 and the other two hikes to Eastern Most and Southern most points is being undertaken in Dec 23.
The hike to Indira Point (Southern most corner of India) is being undertaken from 01 Dec 23 to 09 Dec 23. The team comprises of 10 NDA cadets and 03 instructors. During the hike, the team visited places of historical importance in the A & N islands including Indira Point, Cellular jail, Aberdeen Bazaar, PVC Memorial and Tsunami Memorial. Vice Admiral Ajay Kochhar, AVSM, NM, Commandant, NDA congratulated the team and thanked Air Marshal Saju Balakrishnan, AVSM, VM, Commander-in- Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command for providing support for the hike. The hike to Kibithu (Eastern most corner of lndia) is being undertaken from 01 Dec 23 to 10 Dec 23. The team comprises of 10 NDA cadets and 03 instructors. During the hike, the team visited places of historical importance in the vicinity of Kibithu including Walong War Memorial, Wacha Border Meeting Point and Dichu view Point. On 04 Dec 23, the team visited Kibithu village and interacted with local population. Both the teams also visited Schools enroute and interacted with students. The
students were motivated and inspired to join the Armed forces. These hikes also gave an opportunity to the participating NDA cadets to visit remote corners of India and experience field conditions in military installations around it.
These hikes would promote awareness about National Defence Academy along with showcasing the role of Armed Forces in nation building and securing the borders. The celebrations and activities to commemorate 75 glorious years of NDA will
culminate on 16 Jan 24.
