Swan Foundation President Shashikant Kamble Invited to IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings; Pune Earns International Recognition
Pune: Shashikant Gainba Kamble, President of Swan Research and Social Study Foundation, has received a special invitation to attend the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG).
The prestigious meetings will be held from October 12 to 18, 2026, in Bangkok, Thailand. Finance ministers, central bank governors, global business leaders and academics from across the world are expected to participate in discussions on the global economy, poverty alleviation and inclusive development.
Being held in Thailand 35 years after the country last hosted the meetings in 1991, the event is being viewed as a reflection of Asia’s growing economic significance.
From a Pune-Based Social Activist to a Global Platform
Through the Swan Foundation, Shashikant Kamble has been working for several years to provide school students with opportunities in education and international exposure. In collaboration with NASA and the Singapore Science Centre, the foundation has been organising examinations and international educational tours for students.
His social and educational initiatives have been recognised through the invitation to participate in this global forum. Kamble also served as a Public Relations Officer (PRO) at Bharati Vidyapeeth for 13 years.
The invitation to the IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings is being regarded as an international recognition of his social and educational work and a significant achievement for Pune.
