‘Global Ganesh Vaat’ to Bring Pune’s Ganpati Heritage to the World

Participants from eight countries to explore the city’s rich Ganpati culture through a unique cultural treasure hunt

Pune : With an aim to introduce the rich history, culture and heritage of Pune’s iconic Ganpati tradition to people across the world, Sanskruti is organising India’s first Ganpati-themed cultural treasure hunt, ‘Global Ganesh Vaat’, on September 19 and 20 during the Ganesh Chaturthi weekend.

The unique initiative will bring participants from eight countries together to experience Pune’s vibrant Ganpati culture. Families, students and citizens will take part in an engaging treasure hunt based on faith, history and traditions, solving a series of cultural clues spread across nearly five kilometres around J.M. Road. The event will begin and conclude at J.M. Road.

Cultural bridge from Pune to Phuket

One of the key attractions of ‘Global Ganesh Vaat’ will be the cultural connection between Pune and Phuket. Winners will get an opportunity to visit the Shrimant Ganpati Bappa Devalai in Phuket, Thailand, along with their families.

The initiative seeks to build a cultural bridge between the Dagdusheth Ganpati Temple in Pune and the Ganpati tradition in Phuket, which has a connection with Dagdusheth Ganpati. The initiative is being conducted with the active support of Chetan Lodha, coordinator of Shrimant Ganpati Bappa Devalai, Phuket.

Pune NRI Edition

The Pune NRI Edition of ‘Global Ganesh Vaat’ will also be introduced this year. Pune-origin NRI families from Singapore, the UK, the US, Australia, Germany, Qatar, Malaysia and Thailand will guide their family members in Pune in real time through WhatsApp.

The initiative aims to connect Pune residents across the globe with the city’s Ganeshotsav celebrations while creating a global leaderboard for participants.

For the event, Nisargshala is the campsite partner, while Mawala Boardgames is the board game partner. Madhur Barve of Discover Pune is designing the clues for the treasure hunt.
