INDIAN NAVY MOUNTAINEERING EXPEDITION TO GOECHA LA PASS SIKKIM

A 10 member Indian Navy mountaineering team of INS Shivaji achieved the remarkable feat of conquering the 16,207 ft Goecha La Pass, Sikkim on 29 Sep 23. The expedition team led by Cdr Pramod Bhandirge was flagged off from Lonavala by Commanding officer,INS Shivaji on 21 Sep 23.

The team had undergone extensive training and physical conditioning prior to the expedition. The team encountered challenging weather conditions, rough terrain & heavy rainfall enroute. However sheer determination and cohesive team effort led to successful conquering of the summit. The expedition stands as a testament to the indomitable spirit of the Indian Navy and its reputation as a formidable force both at sea and on land.
