ISIA Workshop in Pune Strengthens India–Sweden Collaboration on Clean Technologies and Industrial Decarbonization

Pune  — The India–Sweden Innovations Accelerator (ISIA) hosted its 28th workshop in Pune today, bringing together industry leaders, technology providers and sustainability experts to explore opportunities for deploying innovative clean technologies in India.

ISIA is a flagship bilateral initiative that promotes cleantech and green energy collaboration between India and Sweden. Supported by the Swedish Energy Agency and implemented in partnership with Business Sweden – The Swedish Trade and Invest Council and the Confederation of Indian Industry – Green Business Centre (CII-GBC), the programme facilitates the entry of Swedish cleantech companies into the Indian market and enables Indian industries to explore and adopt proven sustainable technologies.

The workshop brought together representatives from more than 60 Indian companies and 7 Swedish cleantech companies. The participating companies showcased innovative solutions across sectors including energy storage, resource efficiency, clean energy, water management, IoT and digital solutions, and clean mobility including green propulsion.

Since its inception, ISIA has emerged as an important platform for bilateral cleantech collaboration, with the following achievements:

  • Introduction of 80+ advanced clean technologies to the Indian market.
  • Enabled 250+ pilot and commercial projects across sectors.
  • Facilitated 50+ industry partnerships.
  • Engaged with over 1,500 Indian stakeholders.

Next year, the India–Sweden Innovations Accelerator (ISIA) will celebrate 15 years of India–Sweden collaboration, highlighting a long-standing commitment to advancing renewable energy and green technologies, fostering innovation, and contributing to the two countries’ transition towards a net-zero future. Looking ahead, ISIA aims to raise its ambition by enabling more partnerships, supporting more Swedish companies to establish locally, and creating greater impact on India’s energy transition.

The milestone comes as India and Sweden deepen their Strategic Partnership, with innovation, technology, trade and investment at its core. Energy remains a key area of opportunity, bringing together Sweden’s clean-technology expertise with India’s ambition and scale. As ISIA approaches its 15th year, the focus will be on turning this strong bilateral relationship into new commercial partnerships, local investments and practical solutions for India’s energy transition.

The workshop commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Pranati Shroff Munot, Core Committee Member, Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) – Pune Chapter and Director, Sustain and Save. She highlighted the importance of integrating sustainability into business practices and advancing resource efficiency and environmentally responsible solutions. She highlighted the role of collaboration and innovative technologies in promoting sustainable development and accelerating the adoption of green practices across industries and the built environment.

Mr. Nils Henoch, Senior Business Developer – International Market Development and Investment, Swedish Energy Agency, delivered the theme address highlighting the importance of strengthening India–Sweden collaboration in clean technologies and sustainable development through programs such as ISIA and Industry Transition Partnership (ITP). Drawing on his extensive experience in energy and environmental development, he emphasized the pioneering role that Sweden has undertaken in driving energy transition, and the criticality of continued collaboration between India and Sweden.

Mr. Erik Odar, Trade Commissioner at Business Sweden, gave the special address mentioning the importance of strengthening India–Sweden trade and investment partnerships, with a focus on advancing clean technology collaboration. He emphasized the urgency of collaboration, given India’s ambition to reach net zero by 2070 and leveraging Sweden’s strengths as a clean energy technology provider. He underlined the importance of thinking long term, investing locally, and building strong local partnerships.

In the concluding remarks, Mr. Dinesh Ghai, Principal Counsellor, CII-Green Business Centre, stressed the importance of translating sustainability goals into actionable outcomes through proven technologies and strong industry partnerships. He encouraged participants to build on the discussions and explore meaningful collaborations to accelerate the adoption of clean technologies and advance the green transition.

The workshop featured a series of technical presentations by C-Green, Drupps, ECAPS, Elonroad, Enclima Solutions, Holyvolt and PipeGuard, showcasing innovative Swedish cleantech solutions aligned with India’s industrial and energy transition needs. This was followed by interactive sessions and discussions to explore opportunities for technology adoption, business partnerships and joint initiatives.

A key highlight of the event was the focused B2B meetings, enabling direct engagement between Swedish technology providers and Indian industry representatives to explore pilot projects, business partnerships, and long-term collaborations. The delegation workshop also marked the graduation of ECAPS and PipeGuard from the India–Sweden Innovations Accelerator (ISIA) programme, recognising their progress in exploring opportunities and establishing a presence in the Indian market.
