Congress strongly criticizes Mahayuti allies for tolerating insult to Maharashtra’s identity for the sake of power
Forces that once persecuted ‘Dnyanoba–Tukoba’ and opposed the coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj are resurfacing in progressive Maharashtra..!
A condemnable attempt to tarnish the legacy of Shiv Chhatrapati..!
Pune, April 26:
Senior spokesperson of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress, Gopal Dada Tiwari, has strongly condemned an incident involving Dhirendra Shastri, also known as Bageshwar Baba. He alleged that during a program in Nagpur, Shastri made baseless and imaginary statements about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of Hindavi Swarajya and a revered figure of Maharashtra, as well as Samarth Ramdas. Tiwari termed this as a shameful act aimed at maligning the legacy of Shivaji Maharaj, carried out in the presence of BJP leadership, thereby hurting Maharashtra’s pride.
He further stated that the government has completely failed to address key issues such as farmer suicides, industrial slowdown, unemployment, rising inflation, increasing state debt, and gas shortages. Instead, he alleged that deliberate attempts are being made under the protection of those in power to create controversies that undermine public faith.
Tiwari added that in the land of social reformers, national leaders, and saints who guided the nation, the same regressive forces that once harassed saints like Sant Dnyaneshwar, Sant Nivruttinath, Sopan Dev, Muktabai, and Sant Tukaram are now resurfacing. He claimed that these are the same tendencies that once opposed the coronation of Shivaji Maharaj and are now being patronized by the BJP, thereby reinforcing Congress’s allegation that the party is acting against Maharashtra’s interests.
He accused such elements of making deliberate attempts to tarnish the glorious history of Shivaji Maharaj’s bravery. Tiwari also criticized the Mahayuti alliance, stating that its constituent parties are remaining silent and tolerating insults to Maharashtra’s revered icons out of greed for power. He termed this silence as a tragic situation for the state.
